Meet Esthetician Mariana Salazar

We asked Esthetician Mariana Salazar about her and her role at Revive, keep reading to learn more!

Why did you want to become an Esthetician?

As many Estheticians will tell you, a lot of us share a similar story of struggling with our own skin at one point. I personally had Grade 3 Acne throughout my adolescent years and into adulthood. I understand first-hand the struggle and desperation for an answer. I tried every cream, lotion, and treatment product I could get my hands on, but it wasn’t until I reached out to skincare professionals that I was able to get it under control. I learned a lot in the process, and it sparked an interest in me for the industry. I worked at a beauty counter and really enjoyed the process of being able to help guests with their skincare routine. I loved learning with clients about what worked and what didn’t. I decided to take things a step further and make it a career that would allow me to use my knowledge and experience to help others make a change in their skin.

What is your favorite thing about your job?

Being able to share my knowledge with clients and work as a team to get their skin to the place they want it to be. This industry is ever-changing. There is always a new product, service, or “it” ingredient being talked about or released, and it can be overwhelming to know what route is best for you and your skin needs. That’s what I’m here for. I love nothing more than diving deep into the research, learning all about it – and then guiding you to what suits your needs and goals best.

What makes Revive different?

When clients come to Revive, they can trust they are receiving top-of-the-line treatments by providers who not only are constantly sharpening their skills but who utilize their knowledge to provide the best treatment for you. One size does not fit all when it comes to the aesthetics industry, and it’s hard not to get caught up in all the amazing treatments and options available. At Revive, we analyze what your concerns are and together map out a plan that suits your goals best. Everyone here deeply cares about our clients, their end goal and their experience during treatment and we will go above and beyond to safely get you there.

Products that you can’t live without?

Is it too obvious if I say…SPF? I cringe at myself when I think back at the days when I used to sunbathe with nothing but oil on my skin, or when I used to think the SPF15 in my makeup was sufficient protection (btw – it’s not). There is nothing more important for your skin health than protecting it from the harmful UVA rays (the ones that AGE you) and UVB rays (the ones that make you BURN). If I could only use one product for the rest of my life, SPF would be it. During these dry winter months, I’ve been loving Alastin’s HydraTint Pro. It is a hydrating, mineral sunscreen with antioxidant properties that protect against pollution, IR rays, and blue light. It has a nice subtle tint that helps blur subtle imperfections while providing the skin with a radiant glow.

What is a skincare tip not a lot of people know about?

While we all know protecting our skin from sun exposure, investing in medical-grade skincare, and routinely coming in for professional treatments are the standards for optimal skin health – the one thing we sometimes forget is that beauty starts from within– figuratively…and literally. There is a crucial relationship between our gut and our skin, as both organs have an intricate interaction with the immune system. This is especially important for those battling conditions like acne, where certain dietary decisions can directly impact how and where this condition presents itself. It is also important to be getting enough sleep, drink enough water, manage stress, and routinely exercise – as all of these things can also have a direct impact on the look, feel, and health of our skin.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I’m a big fan of the “simple things” in life. I’m a sucker for a good view, so I especially love a beautiful sunset or a great trail hike. I enjoy trying out new restaurants and satisfying my foodie side. My toy poodle is basically my other half and loves walks on the beach just as much as I do…haha. The intellect in me thrives on binging documentaries about all sorts of things as I really enjoy learning new things, and I always dedicate time to expand and dive deeper into my craft with different studies, books, and articles.
