The decision to get your first Botox injection can be a daunting one. “Botox Newbies” tend to bring their questions and nerves to the first appointment, and understandably so! It’s normal to be nervous before you start any sort of injectable treatment. We have compiled a guide for everything the Botox Newbie needs to know before their first appointment. Keep reading below!
What exactly is Botox and how does it work?
Botox is a type of botulinum toxin. When injected by a licensed professional in a safe dose, it will temporarily weaken the muscles’ ability to wrinkle by preventing any repetitive motion to that muscle. The result is the temporary appearance of smooth and wrinkle free skin!
What if I don’t like it?
The best (and also worst!) thing about Botox is that the results are only temporary. If you don’t like it or don’t feel like keeping it up, you don’t have to.
Who can I trust to do the treatment?
You should only ever trust your face to the best injectors. That’s why it’s imperative to choose an experienced, licensed professional, who has an artistic eye for perfection. Bargain Botox or highly discounted cosmetic treatments are not something you want to mess with, and more often than not you’ll get what you pay for!
Will I look fake after Botox injections?
“No, you will look just like you, just well rested and refreshed!” said RN Nicole of Revive Salon and Spa in San Diego. “This is why it’s important to have a solid consultation with your provider and take all of their recommendations into consideration.”
What should I avoid after Botox injections?
Immediately following injections, you should avoid laying down or putting any pressure on your face for 5 hours. Also avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours. Limiting alcohol and ibprofen the day before and after treatment can help decrease your chances of bruising at the injection site.
How soon before an event should I get Botox?
Plan for any injections at least 2 weeks prior to any event. You want time for your Botox to kick in as well as any adjustments you may need at your post treatment follow up appointment.
