What is a PDO Thread Lift?
The PDO Thread Lift is a procedure that uses Polydioxanone (PDO) threads which are carefully placed under the skin to generate cell renewal and collagen stimulation. The threads are biodegradable so they will dissolve within 6 months of your treatment but continue to lift and contour for up to 9 months.
If you struggle with loose or sagging skin, this may be the procedure for you. There are many areas that the threads can be placed and with careful artistry and knowledge, will create a beautifully sculpted shape.
The Treatment
There are various types of threads that are used for the procedure but will vary between each patient’s goals and skin type. The type of thread will be determined by your provider at the time of your consultation.
At the time of your treatment, a topical numbing agent will be used to numb the area. The procedure will begin once numbing settles and will only last about 20 minutes. The threads are inserted with a blunt tip needle and anchored carefully to tighten and lift to perfection.
Are PDO threads safe?
It is safe! Many of us receive facial fillers and botox which also involve needles – this treatment is performed by the same professionals that use these techniques every day.
After the procedure?
Post treatment will vary from patient to patient. It is important to keep the area clean, avoid strenuous activity, alcohol, certain supplements, steam and intense exercise. It is also advised to sleep on your back as to not apply pressure to the face.
Don’t forget that your face will continue to lift and tighten as the threads settle so taking care of yourself during the healing process is important!
