Each appointment will begin with taking pictures of the areas to be treated. Then clinician will attach a grounding pad on the shoulder or thigh, connect it to the Exilis machine and begin the skin tightening treatment. The clinician will apply ultrasound gel to the area to be treated and begin using the applicator in a circular motion. You will enjoy a warm sensation during the treatment time. The treatment is nearly painless. Treatment time varies, but it averages about eight minutes per area. Immediately after your treatment you may return to your normal activities with absolutely no downtime, no pain, swelling or any discomfort.
Exilis can be used effectively on essentially every part of the face and neck for skin tightening. It is effective in smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, nasolabial folds, jowls, neck and decollete.
The recommended number of body treatments is between 4 to 6 sessions. Neck and facial treatments are usually scheduled 7 – 10 days apart. For laxity, the recommended number of treatments is between 2 to 4 sessions. Neck, jowel and facial Exilis treatments are typically scheduled on a weekly basis.
Exilis has been tested in clinical studies and proven to be safe and effective. It has been cleared by the FDA in the U.S. for use in dermatologic and aesthetic procedures with indications for non-invasive treatment of wrinkles and rhytids.
Yes. If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, Exilis should not be used. Additionally, if you have a pacemaker or any other implanted electronic device, you will be unable to undergo this treatment.
There is absolutely no downtime. During the neck and facial treatment you should feel only minimal discomfort. No anesthesia will be used and you can assume normal activities immediately following each one. Some pinkness on the treated area may last for about 15-30 minutes.
Results may vary. Patients have reported visible improvements after the second treatment session, but it is common to see improvements up to 6 months later. For best results, it is recommended to follow the in-between treatment instructions, maintain a healthy diet and drink plenty of water.
By maintaining a healthy diet and exercise you can expect long-term results. It takes about ninety days for new collagen to form so results continue long after the last treatment.
There have been no significant side effects reported with Exilis treatment.
Most people are good candidates. It may take more than three treatments to get the desired results if you have more advanced wrinkles.
It is recommended that you wait until after your last postpartum visit with your doctor (usually 6 weeks after birth) to begin your Exilis treatment. It is not recommended if you are breast feeding.
It has been available in Europe for four years and FDA approved in the USA in December of 2009.
